How to photograph a negative

Backlight it evenly (lightbox, tablet, or a bright window).
Get close — fill the frame with the negative.
Focus on the film grain, not the light behind it.
Shoot RAW if your camera can.
Flash off, no auto color correction.
Keep it flat and dust-free.
